For many people, hay fever is well controlled with antihistamines and nasal sprays. But for some, symptoms continue through the whole pollen season despite using these medicines correctly – affecting sleep, work, study and quality of life.
Signs it’s time to see a GP
- Symptoms persist despite regular use of nasal sprays and antihistamines
- You are relying on decongestants or frequent short-term fixes
- Hay fever is disrupting your sleep, work or exercise
- You also have asthma, or notice wheeze or chest tightness during pollen season
- You’re unsure whether you are using your nasal spray the right way
What happens in a hay fever consultation?
Your doctor will review your symptoms, triggers, medical history and previous treatments, check how current medicines are being used, and discuss management options that may be clinically suitable for you. This may include optimising current treatment, allergy testing, referral for immunotherapy, or other options where appropriate.
If standard treatments aren’t working for you, book with Dr Binay Kumar to discuss the possible use of hay fever tox and other management options. Book online or call 03 9088 8177 (24/7).
Not all treatment options are suitable for every patient. Any treatment decision is made by your doctor after an individual clinical assessment, and prescribing is not guaranteed. All treatments carry potential risks – your doctor will discuss these, along with alternatives, during your consultation.
