An iron infusion is a way of giving iron directly into a vein for people who are significantly iron deficient and haven’t responded well enough to iron tablets, or can’t tolerate them.

How it works

  1. GP consultation. You’ll need an initial consultation with one of our GPs to check whether an iron infusion is appropriate for you.
  2. Blood tests. We’ll need a recent copy of your iron studies and blood count, or we can organise new blood tests for you.
  3. The infusion. The infusion itself takes approximately 45–60 minutes. We commonly use Ferinject for iron infusions.

Cost

An iron infusion costs $165. Fees are subject to change; please confirm current pricing with reception when you book.
