How should I care for my skin after laser treatment?

Post-care advice usually includes:

  • Avoiding sun exposure and wearing high-SPF sunscreen
  • Keeping the area clean and moisturised
  • Avoiding exfoliants, active ingredients, and heat (e.g. hot showers) for a few days
  • Not picking or scratching the treated area
  • Detailed aftercare instructions will be provided after your session.

Can I have laser if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

As a precaution, we generally do not perform cosmetic laser treatments during pregnancy. If you’re breastfeeding, your doctor will discuss whether treatment is appropriate for you. We’ll assess your needs and develop a treatment plan that’s right for you.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies based on your skin condition and desired results. Some patients notice visible improvement after just one session, but a series of 3–6 treatments is typically recommended for best results.

Is there any downtime after treatment?

This depends on the treatment type and intensity. Mild redness or swelling may occur and usually subsides within 24–72 hours. Some treatments may involve light flaking or darkening of pigmentation before it fades. Your doctor will advise you on what to expect.

How to get a nicotine vaping prescription?

Nicotine vapes are not the first-line treatments for smoking cessation. If you have tried to achieve smoking cessation with nicotine replacement therapy or counselling but failed, nicotine vapes may be a reasonable intervention.

What are the other options to stop smoking?

  1. Nicotine replacement therapies (NRT) are available over the counter and also under prescription at most major pharmacies and deliver nicotine to lessen your cravings and feelings of withdrawal. They are available in a number of slower-acting and faster-acting formats, including:  Patches, Gum, Spray, Lozenges, Inhalator
  1. Prescribed medications are available under prescription. They may help to reduce your cigarette cravings and ultimately help you to quit smoking. You must see a doctor to get a prescription to be able to get these medications.
  1. Counselling and behavioral support from a specialist-trained medical professional can substantially increase your chances of successful abstinence from smoking. Are nicotine vapes safe?

Nothing is safer than breathing fresh air, but when considering whether or not nicotine vapes are safe, it’s important to compare them to smoking traditional cigarettes.

If you don’t currently smoke or have an addiction to nicotine, you should not use any nicotine-containing product, including nicotine vapes.

Consultation duration and fees

Once you’ve connected with your consulting doctor, consultations usually only take up to 15-20 minutes. Out of pocket fee of $40 applies to all consults  along with the relevant MBS item .  So total fee paid might be higher which is then refunded by medicare but you will not be out of pocket by more than $40

Do I have to exercise whilst taking the medication?

Increasing your activity levels is proven to improve your general health and well-being and we do encourage some movement alongside a healthier diet and the medication. We will work alongside you to find the best way for you to get moving, no matter your fitness starting point.

Do I have to change my diet whilst on the medication?

Whilst the medications work with you to help control your cravings, we do encourage you to adopt a healthy eating plan alongside them.
When you come into the programme, we can work with you to help curb cravings, suggest replacements and give dietary advice to ensure you continue your weight loss journey !

Is medical weight loss safe?

Yes; all treatment goals are set by a doctor based on what would be most suitable for your health. You would also be regularly monitored in the clinic along with having regular blood tests etc.

What happens at my first appointment?

At your initial weight loss consultation, we want to know more about you. You will meet on a one-to-one basis with a clinic doctor/nurse who will find out more from you about your lifestyle, eating habits and what you want us to help you achieve.  They will perform a medical assessment of you and will work with you to decide if Waist Wise might be the right fit for you.
